Day 1.
Focus: Screening, assessment, cardiovascular and strength programs, and chronic conditions.
A. Pre-Participation Issues; Recruitment and Medical Screening
B. Assessment Issues; Functional Fitness Testing
C. Components of a Comprehensive Exercise Program for Older Adults. Fitting it all in.
D. Cardiovascular Activity; Guidelines for Leadership; Warm Up, Activity Session for Standing and Seated Clients; Cool Down
E. Chronic Conditions. Guidelines for those with:
(1) Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Diabetic Conditions
(2) Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Joint Replacements and Back Pain.
Will include Contraindicated Exercises.
F. Strength Activity: Exercise prescription and strength routine using exercise bands.
G. Range of Motion Routine. |
