Using APENS as a Guide for UG Teacher Preparation Curriculum Development |
The Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) was not intended to serve as a curriculum guide, yet it can be. This presentation will share how one university teacher preparation program in Adapted Physical Education (APE) used APENS to establish a new Adapted Physical Education License. Step by step tasks will be presented that were used to establish a new undergraduate teacher preparation program in APE and meet the challenges faced by performance based teacher certification. Knowledge and performance based competencies; along with course artifacts will be shared. Evaluation measures or decision points along the curriculum will also be presented. |
