Exercise Adherence-Duty or Passion? |
This interactive session will discuss current applied research in sport philosophy that may inspire commitment to a life narrative defined by physical activity. A team of health professionals and sport philosophers developed a fitness pedagogical practice based on shifting client emphasis from objective exercise results to a subjective life narrative. Objective exercise goals are: weight control, delayed aging, and improved figure, which are questionable for lifetime commitment. Participants will develop: (1) a life narrative based exercise philosophy, (2) teaching strategies, (3) in class and web based lessons, and 4) evaluative materials to assess and measure learning and life narrative commitment. |
Keyword(s): exercise/fitness, health promotion, physical activity
