Professional Issues Colloquium: Making a Successful Transition from Student to Professional—Tips from Early Career Professors |
Transitions, in general, are challenging periods of one's life, whether it is elementary to middle school, high school to college, undergraduate to graduate student, or graduate student to professional. This session will feature three early career professors, who are in their first or second years as assistant professors in several kinesiology subdisciplines—pedagogy, adapted physical activity, health promotion, and sport psychology. They will reflect on their transitional experience from graduate student to professional and offer insights and strategies for adapting to the novel demands and expectations in academe. Session participants may thus be regarded as peer models and mentors for graduate students and other early career professionals. |
