Introduction to Outdoor Skills for Teachers
This full day workshop will provide an introduction to teaching selected outdoor adventure/education/recreation skills. Ideas will focus on educational and recreational programs and will demonstrate how teaching these outdoor skills relate to NASPE standards for elementary and secondary programs. Topics include: ·Backpacking skills and equipment ·Winter backpacking and camping ·Knot tying ·Orienteering ·Fly fishing ·Geo-Caching ·Outdoor cooking and meal planning ·Practical considerations in planning an outdoor adventure trip. Attendees will participate in activities relating to each topic and will take from the workshop ideas and materials they can incorporate into their physical education and recreation programs.
