This session will discuss global issues in adapted physical activity in selected countries. Part I of the session will discuss the global expansion of Special Olympics through an innovative approach to include sports for athletes with mental disability in university physical education programs in Asia, Europe, and Eurasia. Part II is threefold. First, discuss adapted physical activity (APA) as it exists in select countries, compared to the U.S. Second, address issues that impact APA both nationally and internationally. Third, discuss international collaboration to facilitate professional growth in APA. |
