Removing Barriers to Fitness Environments: Promoting Access for All
This two-part workshop promotes access for all individuals by removing barriers to fitness environments. The first part of the workshop provides attendees with knowledge about sports wheelchairs for adapted sports programs, adapted physical education, and inclusive general physical education. The second part will review the North Carolina Office on Disability and Health (NCODH) publication, “Removing Barriers to Health Clubs and Fitness Facilities”, covering topics on universal design, the Americans with Disabilities Act, customer service, equipment selection and modification, and programming in the fitness environment.
