An Integrative Analysis of U.S. Lifeguard Surveillance Training Programs |
This workshop will delineate the visual and psychological processes underlying research based effective lifeguard surveillance procedures. This will enable participants to incorporate evidence based visual and cognitive surveillance/supervision protocols into lifeguard in-service training programs and as well as enable participants to improve their facilities' drowning prevention efforts by applying the Sackett-Burhans Drowning Matrix (SBDM). This matrix utilizes data from a 16 year ongoing New York State Health Department epidemiological study documents 174 contributing factors in 112 drownings at regulated facilities. |
