| The NAGWS Luncheon features a presentation by the Guiding Woman in Sport Award winner. This award was established in 1987 and is presented in recognition of extraordinary service and leadership for women's sports. Past speakers include Billie Jean King, Kathy Whitworth, Lyn St. James, Robin Roberts, and Donna Lopiano.
The focus of this year's luncheon is President Sharon Shields' Backyards and Beyond program. Backyards and Beyond organizes gatherings of community members in backyards across the nation to learn about and advocate for issues that impact sport programs for girls and women. The grassroots program promotes education, advocacy, implementation, and vigilance surrounding social justice issues that are relevant to girls and women in sport. |
