LEEP Outreach: How to Develop Partnerships Between University Teacher Education Programs and Public School Athletic Programs |
The purpose of this presentation is to discuss the vital steps in developing, implementing and maintaining dynamic partnerships between local school athletic programs and university kinesiology departments. Athletic directors, coaches, physical education practitioners, and university teacher educators would benefit from this presentation, which describes, in depth, an already well-established partnership. Primary goals of this program include: (1) engaging female athletes in activities designed to improve communication, goal-setting, self-confidence, trust and leadership behaviors that empower these students to make positive choices; and (2) engaging university kinesiology majors in learning and implementing an experiential education model for motivating and teaching physical activity. |
