Dance in Culture: African American Mardi Gras |
Fulbright Scholar Libby Rhodes will focus on the description and demonstration of dance traditions associated with African-American Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Like Carnival traditions around the world, New Orleans’ Mardi Gras reflects the culture through costuming, props, music, and movement. The AAHPERD audience may participate through questions and answers and learn various dance styles that are characteristic of Mardi Gras parades. |
