Girl Power - A Health Initiative with a Twist!
Girls are uniquely at-risk socially, culturally, physiologically, and psychologically. Studies show they lose self-confidence in early adolescence and as a result, perform less well in school and neglect their interests and aspirations. Issues of self-image, teen pressure, and belonging to a social group are vital to the development of healthy and productive citizens. Girl Power is a collaborative project that encourages girls to make positive choices by empowering participants to build confidence, resist negative peer pressure, and become good citizens. This project affords a community collaborative the ability to provide social skills education and cultural enrichment for pre-teen girls.
