Body Art: Tattoos and Piercings What Educators Need to Know |
The increasing popularity of body art--tattoos and piercing-- merits discussion by health educators and other educators. Health educators need to be knowledgeable about body art in order to offer appropriate information to individuals making decisions about this trend. This session 1) reviews literature on body art, 2) discusses minimum standards for the body art industry, 3) identifies health issues associated with body art, 4) discusses the role of educators in promoting healthy decision making concerning body art, 5) discusses appropriate methods for communicating with students with body art, and 6) identifies resources which provide health information about body art. |
