Traditionally, stress management is taught reactively. Health educators present the psychophysiology of the stress response, psychosocial stressors, and numerous techniques to reduce the stress response. With the emergence of the concept of resilience, stress management can now be taught incorporating resilient skills and principles. In a society laden with chronic distress, resilience enhanced stress management is designed to help students become stronger in the face of adversity. Enhanced concepts and methods will be presented for perceptual stressors, hardiness, and resilience-laced approaches to meditation, imagery, time management, creative problem solving, communication skills, journal writing, intuitive eating, and exercise. |
