Authentic Assessment in Youth Sport Settings |
Authentic assessment can be applied to real world experiences in youth sport. Rubrics are at the heart of authentic formative assessment and can be created to reflect appropriate developmental skills in multiple domains applicable to sport. Parents and players introduced to rubrics are empowered by being interactively involved in the coaching/teaching process. They can take more responsibility for their child’s learning and have a clearer idea of what is expected in terms of specific performance. Rubrics address consistency by clarifying objectives and allow those that are affected by the process the opportunity to assist the coach in facilitating improvement. |
