Using the National College Health Risk Behavior Survey (NCHRBS) (CDC, 1995), this study identified the health risk behavior of college students at a four-year midwestern university. This survey was conducted through university email using a simple random sample of full and part-time traditional and non-traditional undergraduate students. The NCHRBS is used to gather “data on six categories of behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the U.S.: behaviors that result in unintentional and intentional injuries; tobacco use; alcohol and other drug use; sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and STDs, including HIV infection; dietary behaviors; and physical activity” (CDC, 1995). Results of this study will better enable university professionals to provide health education services for the student population at this midwestern university.
