Curricular Resources in Tobacco Control: Integrating Entertainment, Sports, and Education In Middle, High School and College Classrooms |
This interactive session will introduce middle and high school and college/university faculty to curricular materials and instructional resources available free from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s Office on Smoking & Health. Teachers will review innovative programs that promote learning of essential skills and knowledge, access up-to-date, easy-to-use materials, participate in lesson demonstrations and discuss how tobacco use prevention messages involving sports, entertainment, and media and information literacy can be integrated into standards-based curricula across disciplines. Also featured will be a focus on the First Amendment, social responsibility and artists' rights with regard to tobacco use depiction in film and television. |
