Issues in Planning Sport and Recreation Facilities
This workshop addresses issues in planning sport/recreation facilities for the 21st Century. It consists of five parts: (1) Assessment of Athletic Flooring Alternatives: wood, synthetic, rubber? Determining which floor is best for you; (2) Green Design for Sport Facilities: Comparing initial/lifecycle costs of equipment, materials and systems; (3) ADA Compliant Facilities: 10 simple, low-cost things you can do to modify existing facilities to approach ADA compliance; (4) Using a "Think Table": Ensuring important issues are not overlooked in the planning process; and (5) Basics for designing/developing facilities for the martial arts with emphasis on retrofitting older facilities to be used for combative activities.
