"Lighten Up!" The Use of Humor to Improve Leadership Effectiveness in Sport Management |
Women’s Sport Administrators and coaches frequently seek new and effective ways to improve team morale, communications and to encourage the retention of female athletes. The use of humor may serve as the vital component for attaining these goals. To explore this possibility further, the female participant's evaluation of their coach in relationship to his/her use of humor is examined. This presentation will focus on strategies to help the sport administrator and coach infuse humor into the sport organization. The potential effect of humor in regards to physical, spiritual, psychological and social health, as well as inappropriate use will also be examined. |
