Developing, Promoting, and Implementing an AIDS Candlelight Memorial in a Conservative Community
HIV and AIDS are conditions which affect people across all races, religions, ages and genders. This presentation discusses the issues and concerns addressed by the planning, implementation and evaluation team for the 18th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial conducted in a large rocky mountain community which has a national reputation for being “conservative.” Those attending this session will learn strategies utilized to accommodate for this conservative aspect. Development of key elements of this Candlelight Memorial were accomplished by health education students from two local institutions of higher education.
