Attack of the Clones: GirlForce Divides to Conquer |
The replication of a Nashville-based, grassroots community health risk intervention is now reaching girls throughout the state of Tennessee and as far away as Detroit, Boston, Arlington, and a rural county in Ireland. How relevant is the program to girls in geographically diverse areas, and what effect has GirlForce workshops had in promoting healthy lifestyle choices among these varying demographics? In this session, we will discuss the development of the GirlForce leader training program, as well as provide quantitative and qualitative feedback from the growing corp of certified field leaders. Three certified GirlForce leaders from Arlington and Washington, D.C., will share first-hand experience introducing GirlForce to their local school systems, the effect it has had on the girls, schools, themselves, and their volunteers. |
