Debunking "No Pain, No Gain" for Masters and Mature Female Athletes
Today's masters and mature athlete frequently maintain the "no pain, no gain" philosophy that was commonly emphasized during their youth. Today, however, we have reversed that theory and now must get the message out to the masses that are participating in the various levels and age groups of sport. This session will: (1) outline the common musculoskeletal injuries to masters and mature athletes; (2) emphasize prevention strategies; and (3) focus on the special concerns of the perimenopausal, menopausal, and post-menopausal masters and mature female athlete.
