The process of supporting pre-professional practitioners’ creation and implementation of alternative physical education programming is the focus of this session. Within three school contexts (urban, rural, and suburban alternative), the process of creating alternative movement programming will be described. The experiences of pre-professional teachers, school students, and school physical educators and the successes and failures resulting from delivery of alternative programming will be examined. The presentation will conclude with take home messages from the PETE professionals about how to develop and support problem solving practitioners who are able to create meaningful movement activities for specific and unique populations of students. |
