The Safety and Efficacy of Nutritional Supplements and Their Application to Sport Performance |
The use of nutritional supplementation to enhance athletic performance has become extremely popular among athletes at all levels of competition, including the adolescent athlete. The public is often misled by false advertisements and unsubstantiated claims made by the manufacturers of these products. Furthermore, because they are considered natural and are available without a prescription, there is a misconception that these supplements are all healthy and safe, which is not always true. The purpose of this session is to compare and contrast scientific evidence with manufacturers claims regarding the efficacy and safety of these products. |
