Sports Medicine and Psychology: An Updated Team Approach to Injury |
Research pertaining to advances made in sport medicine is well documented. From cryotherapy to expensive and sophisticated instrumentation of technology, the evidence of such improvements within in the past quarter-century is apparent in the sport arena. Regardless of such accomplishments, psychological research and application involving an athlete’s recovery and reentry into sport is still somewhat limited and overlooked. Based on this understanding, the purpose of this session is to examine and illustrate an updated comprehensive systematic team approach of integrating the services of sport psychology consultants and athletic trainers with athletes and coaches. |
