Using the Creative Process to Understand Multicultural Concepts |
This workshop is based on two ideas. First, that movement and the creative process can be used to understand and appreciate cultural traditions and concepts, and second that abstraction can be used witn the creative process to focus on aspects of a cultural group. The aspects of a culture to be used in this workshop would be legends, heroes and customs from a particular group. These aspects would be used as the starting point for the creative work. Participants will also experience a step-by-step process to translate aspects of a culture into movement, followed by shaping the movements into a dance. |
Keyword(s): creative movement, dance education, multiculturalism/cultural diversity
