2003 and Beyond: A Model for PETE Curriculum Revision |
As we prepare the next generation of professionals to teach physical education, we must insure that these teacher candidates are provided with quality programs that reflect current trends and best practices. This session will describe the curriculum revision process that has led to a fully integrated PETE curriculum at Slippery Rock University. Presenters will discuss the various stages of this process: assessment of the existing program, addressing state/national competencies through course objectives, and designing a program based on the quality of competencies, not the quantity of content. The advantages and disadvantages of curricular change will also be addressed. |
