The Impact of an Undergraduate "Fitness for Life" Course on Knowledge and Attitudes Related to Personal Wellness Concepts

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a required "Fitness for Life" course on the knowledge and attitudes associated with personal wellness concepts for 177 undergraduate students. Each student completed an indentical 20-item pre/post test concerning primary fitness/wellness concepts and behaviors. Results indicated that there was a significant increase in the overall percent correct on knowledge items and the ratings on behavioral items over the 16 week course. In conclusion, in appears that an undergraduate fitness for life course does improve knowledge and attitudes associated with personal wellness.
