Reducing High Risk Student Attitudes and Behaviors Through an Integrated Model
Many campuses leave high-risk drinking and other drug choices and consequences to student life, campus security and health services. The purpose of this session is to present a “new view” of reducing high risk behavior - creating a strong academic component in existing required health education classes as part of collaborative, campus-wide initiatives. Key elements of the integrated approach will be discussed including becoming a partner in campus wide initiatives, assessing campus alcohol and other drug use, choosing a comprehensive curriculum, developing faculty training and developing assessment methods to examine effectiveness of curriculum infusion. Participants will leave with strategies for implementing a similar approach and curriculum unique to their campus community.
