Service-Learning in Teacher Preparation
Service-learning, the pedagogy of learning through sevice and community engagement, can be an effective means to enhance teacher preparation in physical education pre-service programs. Presenters will discuss the history, philosophy, and definitions of service-learning and their potential impact on programs. The purposeful design of learning objectives, learning outcomes, and selection of service-learning activities will be reviewed. Reflective and summative evaluation techniques of service-learning courses will also be discussed.
