Initiating Service Learning and Then Taking It One Step Further |
Service Learning is defined as "A structural learning experience that combines community service with explicit learning objectives, preparation and reflection." During the session the "Seven Elements of High Quality Service Learning" and examples of service learning projects will be introduced. Through brainstorming activities the participants will identify which of the elements are covered, which ones are left out, and create ways to improve the programs so that all elements are present. The session will also facilitate ideas for future service learning projects and introduce avenues for funding. |
