Creating an Awareness for Gender-Sensitive Physical Education: A Learner-Centered Model
The purpose of this session is to introduce activities that will help teachers (i.e., preservice and inservice) and teacher educators create awareness for change that will promote a more gender sensitive physical education setting. The attendees will have an opportunity to be involved in various learning activities such as storytelling, role plays, scenarios, and other games to explore issues that promote or inhibit gender sensitive physical education. This session is significant because we as educators need to be thoughtful about the messages (i.e., overt and covert) we give our students in the name of physical activity and sport.
