The Sport Management Tenure -Track Challenge: The Assistant Professor's Perspective |
This session will examine the sport management tenure process from the perspective of the tenure-track assistant professor. The co-presenters will discuss personal experiences and strategies pertaining to their attempts to gain tenure. Generally, the focus will be directed towards the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. Specific subtopics of these three areas will include, but not be limited to: (1) the emphasis of rigor and high expectations of teaching; (2) quality and quantity of scholarship; and (3) departmental, college, university, professional and community service. The politics of the tenure process will also be addressed. |
