Health Education Professional Update |
(1) New AAHE/NCATE Program Standards for Health Education Teacher Preparation, (2) Competencies Update Project: A Status Report, and (3) Future Directions for Quality Assurance - A Progress Report of the SOPHE/AAHE Task Force on Accreditation
This session will provide an update on (1) the recently revised Basic Level Program Standards for Health Education Teacher Preparation to faculty from post-secondary institutions desiring initial or continuing AAHE/NCATE program approval; (2) the results of the pilot study and the initiation of the main phase of the Competencies Update Project (CUP) will be presented. During the project, new competencies were added, and the Advanced-level competencies were "field-validated;" and (3) the work of the SOPHE-AAHE Task Force on Accreditation in Health Education and the implications for future directions for quality assurance in professional preparation programs in health education. Implications for professional preparation and practice will be discussed. |
