Musical Attractions: Using Live Music for Dance in the Classroom or Studio |
Encouraging the use of live music for dance is the main thrust of this Presentation. This session consists of a ballet class, taught by Molly Faulkner, followed by a modern class, taught by Dr. Marta Lichlyter. Both dance classes will be designed for all levels of participants and use live musical accompaniment, demonstrating how live music helps the dancer move, use or conseve energy, feel the beat, etc. Communicating and collaborating with musicians will be addressed in the classes, as well. The third section of the workshop will address the issues of finding and training dance musicians, creative financing, and building musical resources within the dance program. |
