Safety Guidelines Development: An International Collaboration
The Michigan AAHPERD with consultation and support from the Ontario PHEA began the development of safety guidelines in physical education and sport. Attendees will understand the benefits of collaboration and partnerships with other organizations, and the process of developing and writing safety guidelines. Members of both writing teams will present the rational and format for the writing of this document. Attendees will be able to reflect on their school’s or state’s safety standards and how they could be developed, modified or improved. The document presented is intended to help physical educators minimize, to the greatest extent possible, the risk of preventable accident or injury.
