MASSPEC Day: Component Curriculum: The Future of Physical Education |
This new way to design your program is being used at Twin Peaks MS, California's 2001 "Physical Education Program of the Year". This system allows you to choose up to 5 components to be taught each week, for the entire year. Twin Peaks 6th grade components are; Basic Skills, Exercise Science, Cardio-vascular, Body Shop, and Rhythm and Movement. This design will work at any level and will help your program with the transition from "Old P.E." to the "New Physical Education". Component Curriculum was a HIT at the 2001 CAHPERD conference and is now being used successfully by many schools in California. |
