Conceptual Basis of Traditional Chinese Medicine
One of the assumptions inherent in traditional Chinese medicine is that disease is due to an internal imbalance of Yin and Yang; therefore, disease can be prevented and treated by correcting the Yin and Yang imbalance. Chinese doctors use the unique ways to diagnose patients and have different ways of interpreting illnesses and diseases. The purpose of this presentation is: (1) examine the conceptual basis of Traditional Chinese Medicine, (2) study the relationship between Chinese Traditional Medicine and health and (3) compare the similarities and differences between the Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. The attempt of this presentation is to promote a cross-culture approach to understanding our body.
