Athlete and Coach Burnout: Preventable or Inevitable
Burnout is commonly held as a major concern with little remedy for individuals in training for performance. Due to the significance and professional interest shown in this topic, this session will combine lecture, discussion, and group interaction on the issues and means to cope and/or resolve burnout in athletes and coaches. Identification of components and stages contribution to burnout will be addressed through the eyes of the athlete and coach as presented by two applied sport psychology consultants. Secondly, strategies for coping with burnout will be presented for further discussion and group interaction among on-site conference participants.
