Balance, Stability, and Falls in an Aging Population
Balance and stability are important factors in the ability of aging adults to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle. Loss of balance, which often results in serious injuries, is a primary factor in falls among the aged. Long periods of inactivity caused by fall injuries result in a decline in physiological capacity. The program will explore the loss of balance and stability in the elderly. The loss of physiological capabilities and how they cause a further reduction in mobility will be discussed. The session will offer effective programs that develop and maintain balance and stability in the aged.
