Using Interest Diversity for Fitness Program Motivation |
Motivation is a major challenge for physical education teachers in middle and high school settings, especially with "taxing" activities often contained within physical fitness course offerings. Through external motivational sources such as step counters combined with strategically organized and diverse activity choice options, students will be placed within a setting where improved satisfaction and persistence will occur. With success encountered during such exposures, students will persevere with fitness programs beyond the formal physical education setting. This session will offer participants an opportunity to experience exciting instructional approaches, which will significantly enhance motivation among middle and secondary level physical education students. |
