Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the Olympics: Renewing the Partnership
This presentation will explore the informal partnership between the Olympics and the HBCU's tracing its rise and fall over the past several decades. The presentation will examine the social, political and economic aspects of Olympians who developed in the HBCU's. The historic partnership between HBCU's and the Olympics is preserved in Tennessee States' Tigerbelles. There were however numerous Olympians who attended HBCU's and received coaching, support and encouragement to success from these small colleges and universities.
