This session will (a) briefly outline the history of physical education in the United States, (b) set trend analysis (which assumes that events in the recent past will shape and define the future) to explore the socio-political forces that are driving physical education in the early part of the 21st century and (c) provide practical ways that teacher educators and practicing professionals may maximize program effectiveness by responding to such trends.
