Backpacking for the Middle School /High School Student
An overnight backpacking trip can be a wonderful experience for middle school/high school students and for many it will be the only time these kids get to have a wilderness experience. This session will show you how to successfully plan, organize, and implement an overnight backpacking trip. Items to be discussed will include equipment, backpacking food, first aid and safety, choosing where and when to go, orienteering, camp site selection, initiatives, trail etiquette, water filtration, packing, tent setup, cooking, and leave no trace principles.
