Exercises to Enhance Function for Ambulatory and Non-Ambulatory Older Adults – Chair Aerobics and Seated Tai Chi
Participation in seated exercise programs can reverse the effects of chronic inactivity and enhance physiological parameters such as balance, muscle strength, endurance, agility and flexibility in older adults, thereby potentially enhancing ones functional independence and quality of living. The purpose of this application-oriented workshop is to present strategies for exercise involvement and to improve quality of living and independence in daily activities. The workshop is suitable for novice instructors and instructors who teach multi-ability classes and will feature standing exercise strategies for deconditioned older adults and chair activities such as chair aerobics and seated Tai Chi.
