Nutritional patterns among under-represented groups in the US |
The 1995 Dietary Guidelines for Americans provide a nutritional framework designed to assist Americans attain their optimal health status. Despite increasing evidence indicating the role poor nutritional factors play in preventing illnesses and death, Americans are failing to meet those guideliness. This is particularly true among members of under-represented groups. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss dietary patterns among members of US under-represented groups, to discuss its implications of Healthy People 2010, and to provide suggestions for decreasing nutrition-related morbidity and mortality among those groups. |
