Curriculum and Instruction Academy Honor Award Breakfast
Curriculum and Instruction Academy Breakfast is followed by presentation of the C & I Emeritus Honor Award and C & I Honor Award. After brief words from the honorees, there will be an address by an expert in the field of curriculum and instruction. Cathy Ennis, professor at the University of Maryland – College Park, is the recipient of the 2002 Curriculum and Instruction Academy’s Honor Award. The award is given to a C&I Academy member who has made significant contributions through scholarship or service in the area of physical education curriculum and instruction. Ennis’ research focuses on curriculum theory and development in physical education with specific applications to urban school settings. Her work on value orientations is widely known. She has published over 50 refereed research articles, has made over 100 presentations, and has co-authored two books. Ennis has also had a significant impact on the profession through her willingness to mentor graduate students and by working with them in collaborative research agendas.
