Ephedrine Use In Dietary Supplements: Is There Cause for Alarm? and Doping Programs in Communist-Ruled Eastern Europe
Ephedrine-Recently, a proliferation of dietary supplements containing ephedrine and its herbal form, Ma Huang, have appeared. This presentation will review the ergogenic characteristics, weight management effectiveness, and safety of ephedrine and Ma Huang consumption in these dietary supplements. Doping Programs: Purpose is to address the following questions: 1) Did doping programs exist in the Communist Eastern block countries? and 2) Were those programs the cornerstones of their astounding success in elite sport? We will present the compelling evidence, including original secret documents from the former Soviet Union, of the clandestine state-sponsored doping programs, and of the implementation of the results for Olympic level athletes.
