Stretching to improve flexibility is an important element of physical fitness. Since the year 2000, however, there has been a revolution in our understanding of the acute and chronic effects of stretching, as well as how and when to stretch. This session will outline the latest research on the effects of various kinds of stretching and how these exercises should be implemented in physical education and in training for athletes.
