Teacher education offers a natural environment for mentors and mentees. Quality mentoring and professional development provide shared opportunities for PETE faculty, in-service teachers, and pre-service teachers. This “student-teacher triad” is a quality collaborative partnership. If developed before and beyond the student teaching experience, all involved in the triad gain opportunities for professional development. Specific mentoring and professional development ventures aligned with Common Core Standards, Teacher Performance Assessment, Action Research, and after-school programming will be discussed. (CEU)
